Hanscom Tappan Addition is located in East Lawrence, Kansas. The neighborhood is located within a few miles of K-10 highway, I-70 and the University of Kansas main campus. It is within walking distance of Massachusetts Street, the downtown area, and a few blocks from 23rd street, which is the main street in town. 

The Burroughs Creek trail runs from 11th to 23rd street, and is adjacent to Hanscom Tappan Addition. The paved trail is 1.7 miles, featuring landscaping and benches.
